Noel Coward wrote more that 60 plays in his lifetime including Blithe Spirit, Fallen Angels, The Vortex, Design for Living, Private Lives and of course Present Laughter. His plays are still so popular and produced so frequently that it is said that at least one of his plays is performed every day of the years somewhere in the world. Present Laughter is one of his most produced plays and continues to delight audiences more than 85 years after it was written.
Set in 1941, Present Laughter revolves around a famous theatre actor Garry Essendine as he prepares to go to Africa on a theatre tour. However his life is thrown in to midlife crisis as he attempts to juggle his household staff, business partners, personal secretary, his estranged wife, a lovestruck debutante, an obsessed playwright and an affair that could ruin everything that he has worked for. Full of rich characters, quick wit and theatrical antics Present Laughter is a perfect midsummer comedy.
